Updates O Rama

Weird weekend, sorta.

Got family coming out to visit this week – yay!

Consequently, that meant cleaning the house up a bit. Well, more than a bit. A whole lot. I had forgotten that I wrote off certain parts of the house when I first moved in… I got quagmired in the downstairs last year, having to clean a whole lotta stuff that I didn’t expect to have to… like cabinets, blinds, etc. I don’t know how I missed them when I inspected the house, but there were at least four runs to Target and Fred Meyer that first weekend.

Because of that effort, I left the second bathroom upstairs pretty much alone. Oh, I cleaned the tub because of the crap the workers dropped in it and I’ll wash the commode when I clean the other bathrooms, but like the grout on the walls and the vanity? I thought it was supposed to be that dark grey color that they were… oops! To make matters worse, the stuff I like to use – some X-14 or K-10 stuff; think DDT for indoor use – it works really well, but it smells really bad. As in “Gee, I hope I don’t passed out and die bleeding in the tub” bad. Evil stuff. Good at getting grout clean tho.

The floors… ah well. One whole part of it is getting replaced – my Pergo installation was flawed so it’s getting re-done – but it’s not getting installed until next week. That means it had to be cleaned anyway. Boo… wasted effort!

Also finally decided to get a proper-sized carpet for the master bathroom… this one is twice as long: $50. WTF?! The smaller ones are like $10… reminded me why I didn’t have the right sized one in there in the first place.

I was also reminded why I can’t hangout like I used to… I didn’t get in until 4 on Friday night Saturday morning. Helped closed a bar and then went to breakfast while everyone [else] sobered up enough to drive home. Was back up at 8 the next morning – baka! – and have been groggy ever since. I think it was because I talked a lot which I don’t often do at the Bar… I dunno. My throat was all kinds of rebellious the last couple of days. Grog! Grog! Grog! Didn’t even go out last night because of it… between the cleaning and the lack of sleep, I fell asleep on my Inuyasha-playing PSP before 11.

I sorta missed that aspect of my lifestyle, lately – was like putting on your Tevas for the first time of a summer. You knew you liked them but you had forgotten just how much. w00t.

My Jeep is still damaged. I called the nearest dealership: it’ll be about $100 to replace the part and install it. I’ve talked to the car wash that allegedly broke it, a few times over the week… this guy there keeps telling me in broken English that the owner will be calling me, after he gets a chance to review the video tape from that day. This past Friday I called yet again and had had enough, since the car has been off the road for just about a week: I’m going to get it fixed and will bring by the bill – if you don’t pay it, I’m taking the matter to court because this is ridiculous.

This guy has played the “dumb foreigner” routine before… a lot of “huh’s” when he doesn’t want to answer questions… yet this time I got a much difference response from this news… seems that “lawsuit” needs no translation. He’s already told me that they won’t pay for the license plate holder… I dunno how I feel about that. It’s only $35 from Jeep, but the sign at the gas station says nothing about being exempt from damage to them. Antenna, fog lights, etc. – sure. License plate holders that get mauled and scratch the paint the same time that your tail light gets broken? Should be covered, but they’re saying “no” and I sorta figure they won’t.

Tomorrow I call Jeep and ask them to order the part – should take a day to get and then I can have the work done. I once took this very part apart once, but I don’t remember what to do with the wiring and I’d rather have someone that knows what they’re doing to do it. Besides, we’ll still assume that I’m not paying. Really – with a car wash costing me $145, I shoulda at least gotten a hand job from a chick there, as part of it.

Morale of the weekend: careful when eating a Moon Over My Hammy as it can burn the shit outta the roof of your mouth.
