Major League IV

Now I know how Randy Quaid feels.

Remember Major League II? Randy Quaid played Johnny, the obnoxious constantly-pessimistic fan in the stands. Some winning comments:

“Vile thing, you make my butt sting! I detest you! You’re all garbage, all of ya! Back up the truck, back it up!”

“They’ll blow it in the playoffs… they will, they will.”

For the Indians, this week’s script would involve two – not one – but two blown saves out of the last three games. Wild Thing? Fausto Carmona. Think I’m kidding? Tonight in the bottom of the ninth – while the Indians were leading 5-4 – he struck out the first two batters. He then went on to bean the next two batters and walked the next guy to load the bases. Next batter doubled. Two nights ago the same pitcher threw a pitch that scored the winning run. Two out of three, when the Indians took the lead into the ninth.

It’s like watching another Major League movie. Which ordinarily wouldn’t be so bad – ironically, Major League II is on right now – but, well, that brings me to the point: they’d better not suck tomorrow.

The Yankees can’t take sole possession of first place if the Indians keep letting the Red Sox win games, and that’s what it’s all about.
