Was Her Price Right?

YouTube: The Price is Right – Wardrobe Malfunction

This is something out of the late 70’s if I had to guess, considering the clothing, the hairstyles and that Bob Barker’s hair is naturally dark. And since Bob left the show this Friday – and the show came out the year I was born and all of my grandparents used to watch it everyday, meaning that I grew up with it – I thought I’d share this clip.

If anything, it shows the difference in our country between the mid-1970’s and the mid-2000’s… sad that we’re not as laid back in our attitudes as we were then!

  1. You are probably right with your guess that this happened in the late ’70s. The Price is Right went to the one hour format around the end of 1975, which was the same time my parents got their first color TV. I remember watching The Price is Right in color for the first time, and thinking “Whoa! So this is what I’ve been missing!?!?”

  2. Ah yes, I watched a lot of TV as a kid growing up in the 1970s. During my summer vacations I watched all the game shows I could see on TV … The Price is Right, Match Game, The Gong Show, Family Feud, Tattletales, and the more obscure shows like The Money Maze (contestant runs through maze while spouse is above on podium yelling out directions).

I also remember spending my Saturday afternoons watching ABC’s Wide World of Sports. Remember the opening sequence featuring that ski jumper’s “agony of defeat?” Ever wonder who that guy was? I found this on YouTube.

  3. My grandparents also used to watch The Price Is Right. They came from Europe and couldn’t speak much English, but they knew how to say “Come on down!” My grandmother would say to me when she wanted to watch the show: “Put on Come On Down!”
