Oo! We Got a New Fence!

Looks like a new law got passed to “secure” our southern border. Does a big fence make a border more secured? Better than an empty open field or a massive hole in an existing fence, so yeah, I’ll say so. More secure. I also heard a sound bite that may or may not be true: about LA passing a law that prevents illegal immigrants from renting a room with in the city limits. I need to confirm that, though, but for now, lets assume I heard it right.

To both I say “about fuckin’ time”.

Pausing for a moment. Figured I’d wait for your outrage to pass, all you tree hugging idealists that still come back here. Now then. Are ya done yet? Good!

Illegal immigrants are on our soil illegally. Fact. Consider it a truth. Yer supposed to get permission to enter our nation. No permission? Yer illegal and should be deported. It’s a pretty simple law, really.

Now, if you don’t like our restricted immigration laws, that’s OK too, because no law is permenant. Do I want these laws changed? I don’t care, frankly. Not what you’d expect, I’m sure, but really: I have no opinion, especially if I get to import a woman or three.

No, my beef with this issue is that there is a law on record and people aren’t abiding by it. Don’t like the law? Fine: lobby to have them changed. Go on! Get active! Get them changed! Get a law passed that allows unlimited entry into the US. Then we can let people just walk into the nation from Mexico or Canada, or weigh anchor off either of our shores.

Until that happens, if you enter the US without permission, you shouldn’t be here, by law.

For the 12 million people that are here already, my instinctive reaction is tell’m to get the fuck out. Now. But I’m also a practical mammal. It’s our fault that we’ve let you walk in here… we should take some responsibility for that. I know there’s been talk of a works program. I know there’s been talk of amnesty, if you happen to be here when that law passes… I don’t know where that stands. One thing i know for certain is that we should be collecting taxes from them. That’s the price of residence for me and I’m a damned citizen. No matter what happens: insta-citizen, deportation, works bills, or perma-green cards: taxes must be collected. That’s one thing I will never let drop.

“What makes you so damned special? What are you? Native American?” My grandparents – on both sides – went through immigration in New York. My parents were born here. I was born here. I’ve been paying taxes since the day I turned 15. I’ve been paying taxes for over half of my life now. I’m as native to this nation as anyone that can trace their roots back to before 1776. So yeah, I am. Italian-American? I’m a native American. That knows what real gravy is, true, but that’s besides the point.

“Oh these poor people can’t legally rent a place?! What about protecting their civil and human rights?!?!” People, people, please! Since when does being a human promise you the right to rent a place in a nation you’re a criminal in? Right to Rent is a governmental thing. You have a right to live; that doesn’t include a right to rent.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? That’s for our citizens which these people are not. It’s not even a black and white issue… sex offenders are happy when they’re sexually assaulting someone; we stop their pursuit of happiness, neh? And quite rightfully so. My point is that while some things are not clear cut, the Right to Rent A Room is. It’s certainly not God given. It’s not an evolution thing. It’s not even natural! Give a kid a game that you’ve rented; ask him if it’s his or the property of Blockbuster. It’s in our nature to take things and keep them as our own – not rent them. The lawfulness of renting property is government given and these people aren’t part of the government!

Was listening to a news report today, where the news guys were jeering and mocking about this law. “Oh, right, so this is the biggest problem in the country” and that just irked me further. Maybe that’s part of our overall problem in America today. It’s like we won’t fix anything if it’s not big enough? Oh, don’t do the small things first – it’s not our biggest problem so lets not do anything until we can address the “big” issue. Screw that. Especially when the Big Problem is different for everyone.

It’s like you’re walking down a road. You see a car crash happen a half mile down the road: looks bad, four or five cars are involved – people gotta be hurt. You start down the road and right next to you someone comes out of a nearby house, screaming and bleeding from her arm. Which is the bigger problem? Are you going to convince the woman screaming that she’s not having a “big” problem? Do you keep walking towards the accident because there’s more people involved and that makes it bigger? Bunk, I tell you! Obviously you call 911 for the accident, while you see what this lady is screaming about. You don’t stop fixing something just because it’s not the biggest problem you know of.

Besides, I’d say our southern border has been a pretty big problem – one that should have been addressed years ago.

Yeah… about fuckin’ time.

  1. my parents tell me that the issue has been floating around for the last hundred years. maybe there isn’t any good solutions if one hasn’t been found yet.

  2. @Tim – Or maybe a good solution hasn’t been tried yet. To my knowledge, the fence was never built. In fact, parts of CA has taken DOWN whatever fences at some points – or at least never patched. Besides, I believe the US gets more and more attractive to Mexico with each passing year, so I don’t think it’s the same issue.

    @Cat – I was thinking fire moat :)

  3. Canada Government, A call to investigate 911

CANADA STOOD UP TO HITLER AND THE NAZIS

Its time for the Canadian Government as friends and neighbors to the patriotic good people of America to call on the United Nations to conduct a world investigation into the 911 attacks. The United Nations should seek the truth to the questions that remain unanswered by American conspiracy theories of the 911 attacks . Evidence that seems to incriminate the Bush Administration for being a part of an attack on its own people. These Accusations have risen into a new level of danger to the planet as we know it and to the very foundations of democracy in America.

The United States needs to answer for war crimes against humanity with the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Its time for Americans to take thier country out of the hands of tyrants and criminals who profit by war. Its time for America to return back to what it stands for in the world based on thier Constitution and freedoms. And not the freedom to dominate the rest of the world.

Democracy in Canada and around the world is threatened by the decline of the government of the USA and its up to the Canadian Government to take a role in the United Nations to bringing justice to the world from a administration that has lied and caused death and destruction in its evil path to Imperilism and world domination. Its time for America to return as the great nation they once were before the profiteers took it over.

  4. And Canadian border guards need to stop RUNNING AWAY when they hear of a border PROBLEM.

Dumb ass Canuck: go eat a Tim Horton’s donut and shut up.
