Would You Like A Zip Code For That Ego?

FurryGoat: [Scripting News] Well, even though the vast majority of people have never heard of Steve or myself, we’re more influential than John Lennon or Bob Dylan ever were.

Um, no. (’nuff said)

Actually, I don’t know that that is quite enough said.

I had to go digging to see who was idiotic enough to make such a statement.. blogging is fun and all, but it’s not biblical. When I found out it was Dave Winer that was being quoted, I said, “Um… who? Oh yeah, I remember that dude – he was the nutty moron sounding guy with all the RSS/ATOM stuff.” And as most Geeks know the RSS/ATOM stuff is a mess… why else would I have to offer four different formats for aggregators, when it’s supposed to be a “one format fits all” solution?

Hey Dave? Ask someone on the streets if they know Lennon or Dylan and how they influenced people. Then ask them if they’ve heard of you, much less been influenced by ya. Even CERN doesn’t have this kind of ego, and look at their contribution of the web. Foo foo foo! Nice job, there.

It’s on days like these that I wish you could mail order a cream-pie-in-the-face-a-gram or something.

  3. Dave W[h]iner is such a pompous a$$. I’ve had the misfortune of attending more than one dev conference where he has been in attendance and my opinion of him has never been very high as a result of some of the disruptive things I have heard him say at such events. But this is just pure garbage – I’ll go halfies with you on the pie.

Heck, everyone knows that Lennon was more popular than Jesus…

  4. What will be funny is that when the Blogsphere peppers him with “dude, yer an idiot” for making such a comment, it’ll quickly become a “why is everyone out to get me?” conversation.

    Classic online-mental disorder. :)

  5. It’s funny – probably like a lot of other people, I only subscribed to him because so many people around the net read him. Now I wonder, “Why?” UNsubscribed, and I’ll chip in for the pie-in-the-face-gram as well.
