Smoke Free State: Now Active

Public smoking is now banned in the state of Washington, as of midnight this morning. Not only is it banned from public places but while smoking outside, you are required to be 25 feet from the entrance of any public building. At this time, tribal establishments are exempt from the law, as expected since their reservations are not subject to our laws.

Yet Another Smoking Ban

Seattle Post-Intelligencer: Forbidden after July 1, 2004, is open flame gas and charcoal grilling on apartment or condominium decks [in Washington] made from combustible materials and lacking an overhead sprinkler. This means no grilling on the vast majority of wooden decks. Some — not all — metal and concrete decks bracketed by non-flammable walls might be exempt if there are no flammable materials nearby. Electric grills remain legal.
