Look Ma! One Hand!

Gizmodo: I’m not sure why you can’t just cut up a bottle or something, but the P-Mate is the latest in feminine empowerment aids. It’s a foldable pee pee that you can pee through and then throw away. Why would you want this, you ask? Well:

“This is a revolutionary product that has taken Europe by storm. It allows women to pee standing up, just like the boys, giving a whole new slant on equal rights for women”.

Um… yeah, I have no comment.

PSP 2.0 Firmware Released!

Attention PSP owners: put in a memory stick with 16MB free and go to Network Update on your PSP… the new firmware is live via the PSP, even though the Sony web site is showing 1.52 still.

Downloading now…

Forgive the blurry picture – the flash would have reflected off the PSP’s shiny face. But I have to say the blog renders on it really well… and the new keyboard input methods are nearly usable.

“Wow! Why Aren’t You in Windows Mobile?”

“Wow! Why aren’t you in Windows Mobile?”

This is a question that I’ve been asked every couple of weeks over the last year, as more and more people pop into my office for phone advice.

It’s a short answer, really, but there’s a long telling to get it.

Health Break

Khaleej Times: Scientists in Australia’s tropical north are collecting blood from crocodiles in the hope of developing a powerful antibiotic for humans, after tests showed that the reptile’s immune system kills the HIV virus. […] “The crocodile has an immune system which attaches to bacteria and tears it apart and it explodes. It’s like putting a gun to the head of the bacteria and pulling the trigger,” [Adam Britton] said.

Methinks a certain biologist has been playing too much Halo…

Had to share.

Coming Soon To My PSP

I remember hearing reports about a bunch of new games coming for the PSP… and I also remember bitching about the lack of Texas Hold’em games for the PSP. Looks like I’ll be a busy mobile gamer over the fall!

Coming soon:

Namco Museum Battle Collection Aug-23 [PacMan! On my PSP!]

World Poker Tour 2K6 Sep-01

World Series of Poker Sep-13

PAYOUT POKER AND CASINO Nov-11 [unless the other two really suck with their UI and/or WiFi support, this is a moot release]

Midway Arcade Treasures Nov-14

Snoopy-Happy-Dance-of-Joy!

Update: Went to Fry’s today and noticed they have the Japanese version of the Namco title for $54.99. So I went up to eBay and found it for $38… thinking that it didn’t ship until November, I went ahead and bought it. Oops. I got the Midway and Namco release dates screwed up. Ah, well. Maybe I’ll learn some Japanese thru it, since none of it is translated…

My Desktop

I used my notebook to demo something the other day and I got a resounding round of snorts and snickers when my desktop popped up on the main screen. Were people mocking my Hello Kitty wallpaper? Nah. I don’t run with wallpaper. Haven’t since Windows 3.1, when my color palette would freak out after something caused desktop to repaint… at the time, a quality bitmap caused a slow down for painting too which sucked. You know, back when video cards were video cards – instead of GPU’s – and had less memory than… a latte? Like 8MB of on-board VRAM and you were rockin’ to have that.

Anyway, no, they weren’t mocking that. They were gawking at the position of my taskbar. When pressed with questions as to “why would I do something so weird” I answered. Hoo boy, did I answer. Let me explain why I have a left docked taskbar.

Weighing in on Hot Coffee

It should be old news by now… a couple of mini-games have been uncovered in GTA:SA, PC and PS2 editions. Of course the politicians are now circling like vultures. And the ESRB has opted to bump up the rating from Mature to Adults Only, which caused a recall. And now, finally, we have our first law suit in NY…

To the people that are in an uproar about this… well, um, shut the fuck up.

Justice League Unlimited: Epilogue

Yeah, well, so I’d say at least half of my DVR entries are cartoons at this point, the majority of which air on the Cartoon Network. This is a direct results of a lack of Yankees games being televised – the time zones and the lack of YES are killing that – along with a lack of new Soprano seasons and the over abundance of reality shows, that I try to avoid like a case of gout.

They’re mostly to blame anyway…

Pocket SharpMT Podcast

What’s this? Randy doing a podcast? Um, no… I’m still pretty sure that my voice is not ready to be offered for public consumption, so I’ll stick to my written text, thanks.

Pocket SharpMT, however, has made an appearance in a Podcase, though – you can hear about it here: The techAddiction Show #16 – and thanks to jk [OnTheRun] for the plug!
