Vista Tip: Elevated Command Prompt Here

One of the things that irks me is I’m trying to do stuff in a deeply buried directory in Explorer and the realize that I want to do something Command Prompt related. You get all the way down to where you want to be and say “uwaaaah!” because you realize that you now have to type that long path into a command window. Sure you could copy the path from the directory bar and paste in the command window, but, well, that’s a bunch of steps I don’t feel like dealing with.

In Vista, there’s an addition challenge because you might want a Command Prompt with Elevated permissions.

Below you’ll find a set of Registry settings that will enable a “Command Prompt here” and “Elevated Command Prompt here” menu item when you right click on a drive or directory in Explorer, including the Start Menu Vista Button.

Dating? Dating Sucks.

Personally, I think could overload this server with the pitfalls and perils of dating. A chunk of my book tells a small part of the pain that I’ve had to endure over the years… the planned second edition of it would include a hell of a lot more – like the “adult” relationships – assuming I ever got time to write it.

I Want Royalties

I said it first: now that non-smoking sections are moot with most restaurants going entirely smoke free, there are some places that should offer child-free seating. Not places like McDonald’s or diners and the like – I’m talking higher end places.

Nothing kills a first date over dinner like a full blown tantrum with flying food at a swanky eat’m up joint.

I don’t care which party he runs for – I’m all in. In fact, if he sticks to the Republican party, which he probably will, I think he’s more balanced than any other candidate in recent history. Italian, smooth and active (as in cleaning up New York City), calm under fire (as in 9/11), and divorced (religion may be important but he’s still smart in a secular way)… and the Democrats don’t seem thrilled with Hillary yet and Obama is still a wild card…

Should be an interesting year either way.
