I’m not searching for a Wii any more. After searching for 36 hours, not only am I sick of hearing “no” but I think I’m about to get broadsided by a much larger purchase or two.
Even for me there are limits to what I can or I’m willing do for the sake of gaming.

Engadget: Wiimote strap breaks, controller destroys TV
Not often that I’m proven “right” during the first 36 hours of a product launch. In fact, I remember saying “Hey, good idea on the strap” because of this very scenario. However, I’m with Engadget on this one: doofus probably forgot to put on the band and is now trying to blame a faulting strap…
Wonder if he picked up the split or not…
Not willing to leave well enough alone tonight, I went back out to see what was going on in Wii Land, about an hour before Fred Meyer opened their doors. Didn’t go to Kirkland this time; went to Bellevue instead. They had only 54 units in store and they had already handed out their tickets – by 11:15, the line had no where to grow. I then went over to Redmond, to see if any riots had broken out… nothing going on there: quite orderly. I also noticed Target already had a line forming. Eight hours before their doors opened, they already had at least 30 people in line.
Wiild – good thing I don’t care all that much about it or I would have had to drag out my tent tonight.

WTF?
I was flipping through the radio stations this morning and came across the Adam Corolla Show. They’re sending someone to a local Best Buy, where Sony fanboys – or auctioners for Sony fanboy, but it shouldn’t matter – are lined up to get a PS3 on Friday. They want to see if they can get people to get out line, if bribed with free sex from the Bunny Ranch [in Nevada].
Man… that’s a hard one to call.
I’ve been tooling all over, jotting down Vista tips, now that I run it on two outta four machines… the problem is that I don’t remember who I’ve shared tips with!

As many of you are aware, Windows Vista RTM’d last week. So did Office 2007, for that matter. I spent some time upgrading one of my work machines as well as my notebook… traditionally speaking, upgrading a notebook PC to a relatively new OS can be suicide, unless the OEM has made specific drivers available to you. It’s not just a Windows thing: I’ve seen pages and pages of Linux folks attempting to get devices supported on machines that OEM’s have decided they wouldn’t support.
But I decided to do it anyway… this is the story.

What the hell do I do with it?
Personally I’m just amused that we could ship a game like Gears and Piñata within 48 hours of each other: both are state of the arts and extremely playable yet so very different.
Gears of War landed on my desk yesterday. I picked up Call of Duty 3 tonight. I’ve still Need For Speed: Carbon sitting on my coffee table. And here it is, nearly 1:31 in the morning – the obvious question is what did I play all night?

Well, there’s something you don’t see every day.
Just an FYI to all SharpMT users that use TypePad for hosting: getting Text Filters from the server works again!
Don’t know when it started working but it worked today – I first reported the problem in July and had seen it for months before that, thinking it was a Vista problem. True, I could be more forgiving, but a) I’m a paying customer, b) I help to drive business to Six Apart products and c) it still took over four months to get a fix in place for a server based product.
Ah well. At least it’s working again!
Yeah, that’s right: I played with one. Jealous? Ha!
The EBGames at Redmond Town Center had a kiosk set up already, so anyone can.
