I got my Japanese edition of the Namco Museum Battle Collection for the PSP. Fuckin’. Rules.

Grump.
I think it’s about time that we remove all of the warning labels off everything and let nature take it’s course.
No, no, really, I mean it. Call it Natural Selection. Or maybe Natural De-Selection is more apropos. Either way, just put stuff out there and let it go. The idiot population would drop instantly. Lawyers would have to drop idiotic lawsuits. The human race – or at least America – would instantly be much stronger, if smaller. I think gardeners call it pruning.
Feh.
J-Walk Blog Link Experiment
This post was brought to you by the letters Alpha and Omega, the number Pi, and by this blog.

I’d Give Him a 2.4
FoxSports: A fan plunged from the upper deck at Yankee Stadium onto the screen behind home plate during Tuesday night’s game between New York and the Chicago White Sox, then was taken to a hospital for observation. […] “I’ve never seen anything like that before,” White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. “I think that’s New York, you know, anything can happen.”
Indeed anything can happen. Twice. I happened to be at the game the last time a drunken fan hit landed on the screen; took the players a while to realize what happened and for the umps to pause the game.
Dumb asses.
Education
I’ll admit it: I’ve had some dark thoughts lurking around in my head lately, and they involve education. More of the question of: to PhD or not to PhD.

Ideology Vs Business Sense
Mallard Fillmore via Seattle-PI: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/fun/mallard.asp?date=20050807
Let me get this out of the way: my comments on this post are my comments. They have nothing to do with my current employer nor any of my past employers – these comments are my own.. The comic references is the one from Aug-07; I would have linked to the image itself, but it seems to be behind some time of lame web/cookie access protection… Feh. This post won’t make much sense unless you see it, so click through and then you’ll see why I had the need to vent about it.
What happens when ideology is blind to good business sense…

Baseball: How To Know When Your Resume Needs Updating
FoxSports: Gary Sheffield knows who leads the New York Yankees, and it apparently isn’t Derek Jeter or Alex Rodriguez. Sheffield all but appointed himself the Yankees’ most valuable player in an interview with New York magazine, accusing reporters of distorting the truth and ruining team chemistry. […] Sheffield was batting .302 this season entering Friday night’s game against Toronto, a percentage point behind Jeter and well behind Rodriguez’s team-leading .316. Rodriguez also leads in home runs (30) and RBIs (85). Sheffield’s 21 homers and 81 RBIs are tied for second in both categories. […] “It happens because you’re white and I’m black,” Sheffield said. “My interpretation of things is different. You don’t see it the way I see it. You write how you understand it, how you would articulate it, not how I, as a black man, would articulate it.”
Seeya, Gary! Enjoyed the time we had together, but I’m betting you’ll be banished to Colorado for talking to the press like this. In spite of who is the current Captain, George leads the Yankees and I’m betting he’s not going to be proud of you for this crap. I haven’t seen the likes of this since the Bronx Zoo of the mid 70’s.
Can’t say I’m glad to see it coming back to that again…
Coming Soon To My PSP
I remember hearing reports about a bunch of new games coming for the PSP… and I also remember bitching about the lack of Texas Hold’em games for the PSP. Looks like I’ll be a busy mobile gamer over the fall!
Coming soon:
Namco Museum Battle Collection Aug-23 [PacMan! On my PSP!]
World Poker Tour 2K6 Sep-01
World Series of Poker Sep-13
PAYOUT POKER AND CASINO Nov-11 [unless the other two really suck with their UI and/or WiFi support, this is a moot release]
Midway Arcade Treasures Nov-14
Snoopy-Happy-Dance-of-Joy!
Update: Went to Fry’s today and noticed they have the Japanese version of the Namco title for $54.99. So I went up to eBay and found it for $38… thinking that it didn’t ship until November, I went ahead and bought it. Oops. I got the Midway and Namco release dates screwed up. Ah, well. Maybe I’ll learn some Japanese thru it, since none of it is translated…
My Desktop
I used my notebook to demo something the other day and I got a resounding round of snorts and snickers when my desktop popped up on the main screen. Were people mocking my Hello Kitty wallpaper? Nah. I don’t run with wallpaper. Haven’t since Windows 3.1, when my color palette would freak out after something caused desktop to repaint… at the time, a quality bitmap caused a slow down for painting too which sucked. You know, back when video cards were video cards – instead of GPU’s – and had less memory than… a latte? Like 8MB of on-board VRAM and you were rockin’ to have that.
Anyway, no, they weren’t mocking that. They were gawking at the position of my taskbar. When pressed with questions as to “why would I do something so weird” I answered. Hoo boy, did I answer. Let me explain why I have a left docked taskbar.

Maybe It’s Just Me…
DownloadSquad: Xandros comes very close to addressing those concerns with their latest Linux distro, which has a foolproof setup utility, comes with KDE configured to be as Windows-like as possible, can read and write to Windows partitions, and includes Crossover Office 4.2, which allows many standard Windows apps to run under Linux.
I don’t get it.
