The Porting of SharpMT

Just after the Beta 1 release of Whidbey (Visual Studio 2005) I decided that the time was Right to start a conversion. Sure, I could have just opened the existing 2003 project in using the new IDE, but I opted not to do this… basically, this would give me a chance to play with the new IDE and Framework in a project that I was very well acquainted with. It also gave me a chance to update some of the external controls with built-in Microsoft-coded controls, which usually makes for an easier install to manage. The question is, where’s SharpMT 3.0?

SharpMT 2.5 – Official Release

SharpMT 2.5 adds support for Plug-In’s that support the ISharpMTExtension interface – the 2.5 release includes a Plug-In that will search Amazon for a book using an author’s name and a book’s title. Once a book is selected, the URL of the book at Amazon is inserted into your current draft. The ISharpMTExtension interface is described in a text file that’s in the Plug-In directory and any .NET developer can write a Plug-In for SharpMT, with or without their own Windows Forms…

Plug-in Musings (And Do We Need a Beta 2 of 2.4?)

I had a thought the other day. Maybe it was today. It doesn’t matter, really, but I was thinking… wouldn’t it be neat to have a menu item that you could open a dialog that – when online, of course – let you enter a book title and have it return a link to Amazon? Or maybe a list of books, in the event that there’s more than one that fits. It’s very easy to do, with the Amazon XML Services interface exposed – and I’m certain that there’s other service to grab from online – but then I got to thinking some more, and now I have a quandary.

SharpMT and Pocket SharpMT 2.4 – Beta 1

And here’s another “minor”, yet massively requested update, and it’s been added to the desktop and pocket version: HTML encoding. Sadly this doesn’t seem to work for all language, but it will enable me to support non-English Latin-based languages. For more information, click more, to read the rest of this post.

SharpMT and Pocket SharpMT 2.3 – Official Release

After a rather fast beta cycle, SharpMT and Pocket SharpMT 2.3 have been released. This time out, for the desktop I’ve included proxy support; for the mobile version, I’ve added proxy support, better form rendering for landscape mode, and a couple of tweaks to be compliant for a Microsoft Certification attempt. The landscape mode is a tricky business so please report any anomalies; I’ve tested it on hardware and emulations, and don’t expect any trouble.

SharpMT and Pocket SharpMT 2.3 – Beta 2

Looking for a fast turn around on this beta run, both because there’s really only one new feature and because I changed a couple of things in a hope to get Pocket SharpMT certified for free (but it’s a limited time offer). This latest version offers nothing remarkable: just a couple of bug fixes and a few changes on the Pocket side.
